Today, as we occasionally do at the SkipHire.org blog we’ll be stepping across the pond to see how those USA types ‘do waste management’. Thoroughly exciting and part of our commitment to a worldwide positive attitude towards recycling and sustainable waste management.
Now, who says the USA isn’t kind to the environment? Not only are they recycling gas from landfil sites but now the largest waste management company in the Sunshine State is planning to step off the grid and power its headquarters with solar energy.
Waste Pro USA will build a 25 kilowatt solar energy power plant that uses photovoltaic solar panel technology to produce 120 kilowatt hours (kwh) of energy every day (the average house uses 50kwh per day). The panels are able to withstand hurricane-force winds of up to 148 mph, which is handy if Alex pops by, but the best bit is this: they are so light-sensitive that they can even pick up solar energy from moonlight.
Keith Banasiak, Regional Vice President of Waste Pro says: “We’re not your usual ‘trash’ company.” Amen to that brother.
