“Somebody told me once that they put a man on the moon with a 64-bit computer, so these things, even though most people would laugh at them, they’re still very powerful” – IT consultant Brendan Geoghegan talking about some laptops he found in a skip. Brendan is just one of the many skip divers that are interviewed in a great article for the Irish Times, many of whom have found previously untold treasures at the bottom of an 8-yarder.

Along with his laptops, Brendan has salvaged modems, printers, servers and even a pram for his baby son in a skip outside Mothercare in Inverness. Teemu Auersalo, a Finn based in Dublin, got furniture for his entire flat from a skip and last year, he started up a Facebook group, Dublin Skip Raiders, to highlight any skips about town. Have a read of the article, it’s full of skip diving tips tells of one diver that found Microsoft rubbish worth almost £10,000!
