A skip hire company boss that races pigeons in his spare time has had his heart broken after dozens of his prized birds were stolen. Terry Sandham, 69, is offering a £500 reward to anyone who helps in the finding of his feathered friends.

Sandham, who owns a waste management business in Aireborough, believes thieves broke into his pigeon loft in the dead of night and made off with up to 30 birds, valued at over £1,000. As if this story isn’t interesting enough, the pigeon fancier is owed up to £40,000 in legal costs by Leeds City Council after they took him to court over the building of the pigeon loft and lost. Who’d have thought liking a bit of pigeon could be so intriguing? Jack Duckworth, that’s who.
